System-Wide Officials
In addition to our president and board of trustees, our system leadership includes
officers overseeing operations, budget and finance, human resources, technology, planning,
development, communications and compliance.

Executive Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer
Ed Walton is responsible for coordinating the planning and activities across non-academic
areas of the university. The Division of Administration and Finance oversees the areas
of business affairs, communications and marketing, economic engagement, facilities
and transportation, finance, government and community relations and law enforcement
and safety.

Vice President for System Affairs
J. Derham Cole Jr. is responsible for coordinating activities and initiatives within
the entire UofSC system. In the role, he is tasked with expanding access and transfer
options for students attending the eight institutions as well as crafting a strategic
plan for strengthening collaboration among the university system.

Vice President for Human Resources
Caroline Agardy leads the university’s Division of Human Resources. Together, she
and her team manage talent recruitment, administration of UofSC’s benefit and compensation
programs, and foster the personal and professional development of university employees.

Interim Vice President for Development
Stacey Bradley, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Academic Support,
is leading the Division of Development in the university’s efforts to secure private
gifts in support of students, faculty, research, programs and facilities.

Vice President for Communications
Larry Thomas is the university and system spokesperson and leads all marketing, branding
and public relations efforts on behalf of the university. Under his leadership, the
Office of Communications and Public Affairs shares the stories of our system, university,
students, faculty and staff with the public through the news media as well as university
publications and digital communications.

General Counsel and Executive Director of Compliance Programs
Walter "Terry" Parham is responsible for all institutional legal advice, including
drafting contracts, interpreting federal and state laws and regulations and reviewing
all university policy development. His office represents the university in litigation
and serves as a clearinghouse for responses to requests for information made under
the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act.
