In addition to our president and board of trustees, our system leadership includes
officers overseeing operations, budget and finance, human resources, technology, planning,
development, communications and compliance.
Senior Vice President for Administration and Chief Operating Officer
Ed Walton is responsible for coordinating the planning and activities across non-academic
areas of the university. The Division of Administration and Finance oversees the areas
of business affairs, communications and marketing, economic engagement, facilities
and transportation, finance, government and community relations and law enforcement
Vice President for Human Resources
Caroline Agardy leads the university’s Division of Human Resources. Together, she
and her team manage talent recruitment, administration of UofSC’s benefit and compensation
programs, and foster the personal and professional development of university employees.
Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
Doug Foster provides leadership for information technology, instructional services,
e-learning and cyber infrastructure research. Under his direction, the Division of
Information Technology also provides operational support for these services through
University Technology Services.
Interim Chief Development Officer
John William "Will" Elliott leads the university’s fundraising program to secure private
gifts in support of students, faculty, research, programs and facilities.
Interim Director of Communications and Public Affairs and Chief Communications Officer
Jeff Stensland is the university’s spokesperson and leads the team that tells the
stories of our students, faculty and staff. Those stories are shared with the general
public through the news media, our own printed publications and our digital communications.
General Counsel and Executive Director of Compliance Programs
Walter "Terry" Parham is responsible for all institutional legal advice, including
drafting contracts, interpreting federal and state laws and regulations and reviewing
all university policy development. His office represents the university in litigation
and serves as a clearinghouse for responses to requests for information made under
the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act.
